Scottsdale

Old Town to McCormick Ranch. Where my office is, where most of my Arizona sales have closed, and the first place out-of-state buyers ask about.

The Running Radius

What Scottsdale actually is.

Old Town to McCormick Ranch. Her office, and nine years of sold history.

Scottsdale is the city east of the Phoenix line, and for most people moving to the Valley it is the name they know. Old Town is the walkable core: galleries, the canal, the restaurants along Scottsdale Road and Camelback, and the kind of condos and townhomes that make a lock-and-leave easy.

North of there the neighborhoods spread out and the lots get bigger. McCormick Ranch and Scottsdale Ranch wrap around the lakes and golf courses built in the 1970s and 80s, and the homes are mostly single-level ranches that have been updated once or twice since. Further north it turns into the desert-lot customs and gated golf communities that most of the national press means when it says Scottsdale.

Housing

Condos and townhomes in and around Old Town, 1970s to 90s ranch and golf-course homes through McCormick Ranch and Scottsdale Ranch, and larger desert-lot customs as you go north. The widest range of price points of any stop.

Why people move here

Walkability in Old Town, the lakes and greenbelts in the Ranches, and schools and shopping that make relocation simple. Sierra's office is on Camelback Road at 69th Street, a few minutes from all of it.

The run

The Indian Bend Wash greenbelt: miles of paved path through parks and around the lakes from Old Town north to Shea. Flat, shaded in the morning, and the best long run in the radius.

Your next move

Let’s talk about Scottsdale.

I've sold more homes in Scottsdale than anywhere else in Arizona, and the thing I tell relocating buyers is that "Scottsdale" is six different markets with one name. Tell me what you want your week to look like and I'll tell you which one.
